In response to the last post...
Actually, I don't know what I was thinking. 518 isn't anywhere close to 1000. But at least now we can start rounding up.
Anyway..... :P

Almost!
As of noon today, I reached 500 cranes. Now, it's 518. We're over halfway there to the first 1000! Woot! XD
Otherwise, the weekend was pretty uneventful-- Dylan and I performed a gig at a nursing home, which was nice, but I should have prepared my piece better (or started to prepare it.... yeah.... haven't exactly looked at the Back Suite for about a month.... >.<)
Love,
Eve

hehehe...
So, April 13th and about 300 cranes, if I counted correctly. Making progress.
In other news, yesterday my English class threw a Beowulf-inspired feast party thing in which I had to provide all the music. It was a lot of fun. Dressing up in a corset and a huge dress, running around with cello, bass, and amp in tow (along with all of my school stuff), having fun with eyeliner and makeup. It was great. (I kind of looked like the Joker at the end of it all because my makeup smudged everywhere, but that's OK.) My friend has pictures, and I dunno when she'll send them but when she does I'll post them. :)
Kind of forgot my bass in the classroom... eh, I'll get it tomorrow, it's safe.
Major orchestra competition (UIL) tomorrow, and I've got a solo that I'm kind of nervous about. But that's OK, because we're going to be AWESOME. Or, as Mr. Potter puts it, we're going to rock.
Peace,
Eve

April 11
So, 3 days into my project and I've already got 238 cranes and about a quarter of the school talking about this. Pretty nice. Sooner or later I'll get around to getting people to man drop boxes at different schools-- Anderson, Westwood, Westlake, UT, Bowie, Akins, Austin, etc-- so that it's not restricted to LASA and Kealing, as it is now. I'll get Girl and Boy Scouts involved, too. Maybe I'll even start a legit website... }:-)
Thanks to all who have contributed/made cranes/passed the word/was interested because there was nothing better to do! Love ya!
Eve
PS. I like changing the fonts on stuff, so each post will probably be in a different font. Don't get freaked out or anything... ;)

My Project
Hello Reader,
Just a brief overview of my project, which you can read about more on the About page: my goal is to bring together the Austin community to make 1,000,000 cranes by John Lennon's birthday, October 9 2011. My reasoning is that if everyone in the greater Austin area made just one crane, we would already have about 5,000,000 cranes, right?
So the project is just getting the word out about peace and unity, mainly. There's a lot of things that go into making this many cranes: getting the paper (preferably reused from old paperwork, otherwise recycled), making each paper into squares (I find that I can make 8 cranes out of an 8 1/2 x 11 standard sheet of paper), actually making the cranes, getting the word out, dropping off cranes, and all that good stuff. At the end, I'm going to set up posts at different points in the city and have people write their wishes on the wings of the cranes-- any wish they want. After I collect back the cranes, I will send them to Yoko Ono, who will make the cranes into a work of art.
I started this project on April 8, 2011. There's a countdown to how many days we have left, and a counter for how many cranes I've counted. I'd love any help I can get on this project. Please help unify our community in creating something beautiful and peaceful for our lives! :) Thank you!
Love,
Eve
